Red Cross promotes sober driving on St. Patrick's Day
Even though we're all Irish on St. Patrick's Day, the Central Illinois Chapter is reminding revelers to stay safe and designate a sober driver this St. Patrick’s Day. The Red Cross, IDOT, Baumgarten Distributing and the Tazewell County Health Department are teaming up with local bars to offer free nonalcoholic beverages to designated drivers.
“Don't rely on the luck the Irish to get you home safely. Designating a driver on St. Patrick’s Day means that you and your friends will return home safely,” said Marie Dietrich of the Red Cross Injury Prevention Department. “We hope that this program brings awareness to the problem of impaired driving, and gives people an incentive to celebrate responsibly.”
Designated drivers can enjoy free nonalcoholic beverages at participating bars
On St. Patty's, we are continuing our Designated Driver program. At participating locations, designated drivers can enjoy free nonalcoholic beverages in special “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” cups.
